Setting Up Netscape v4 on MacOS 8 or 9 using the User Profile Manager

Step 1:

Double click on the hard drive (unless you have renamed it this will be called Macintosh HD and will be located in the top left hand corner of the desktop), double click on Applications (Mac OS 8 or 9), and then double click on User Profile Manager - Select this link to see a screen shot

Step 2:

Click on the button marked New... - Select this link to see a screen shot

Step 3:

Read the information in this window and then click Next - Select this link to see a screen shot

Step 4:

In the Your Name field enter you real name as you would like it displayed on emails that you send, in the Email Address field enter your MoonStar email address, and then click Next - Select this link to see a screen shot

Step 5:

In the Your Profile Name field enter your MoonStar username or your real name or anything else that will help you identify this as your profile and then click Next - Select this link to see a screen shot

Step 6:

For Your Profile Folder leave this set as the default directory already listed, and then click Next - Select this link to see a screen shot

Step 7:

In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server field enter mx.moonstar.com and then click Next - Select this link to see a screen shot

Step 8:

In the Mail server user name field enter your MoonStar username, in the Incoming Mail Server field enter luna.moonstar.com, for Mail Server type select POP and then click Next - Select this link to see a screen shot

Step 9:

In the News (NNTP) server field enter news.moonstar.com, leave Port set as 119, do no check Secure and then click Next - Select this link to see a screen shot

Step 10:

For Shortcut Icons check any of the options for which you would like a shortcut on your desktop and then click Next - Select this link to see a screen shot

Step 11:

If you are not planning on importing any information from other programs to Netscape uncheck Import information from other programs and then click Next - Select this link to see a screen shot

Step 12:

You have now completed the set up for your new Netscape Profile so click Finish (note: you will be asked for you password the first time you try to check for mail with your Netscape profile so make sure you have the information handy) - Select this link to see a screen shot
